Yak Profiles

Rob Scoltock
Nickname: "Ooh Baby"
Height: 5"10 Weight: 11.5 stone
Specialist Skills: Carpentry
Previous Experience: None

Rob "ooh baby" Scoltock otherwise known as the liability, has decided to embrace this challenge full on. From running half marathons, training for tough mudder, attending every kayaking session and getting all the gear, there is no doubt Rob is all about kayaking the Thames. Whenever there is an obstacle in the way (whether its a lock, a tide or a duck) his phrase of "we've got this" always seems to see him through. Lets hope it will see him through 135 miles of river paddling...

Thom Watts
Nickname: 'Wet Watts'
Height: 6"1  Weight: 10.5 stone
Specialist Skills: Accessorising, contemporary dance
Previous Experience: 1 Trip out in a kayak on the sea in Liverpool

Thom "Wet" Watts has based himself in Liverpool for his pre-challenge training where the rivers are meant to be tougher, meaner and stronger than down south. Unfortunately Thom is not like the rivers and hopes to use his lean and mean frame to propel him down the Thames. What Thom lacks in size he makes up for in his ability to accessorise and will no doubt make sure his boat and crew are looking their finest when they set sail over the Easter weekend.

Rhys Bowen
Nickname: 'Row In Bowen'
Height: 5"11  Weight: 11.5 stone
Specialist Skills: A machine
Previous Experience:

Rhys 'Row In' Bowen has decided to take the relaxed approach to training for the challenge. Holidaying on 3/4 weekends leading up to the event, Rhys is aiming to get enough of a base layer tan to prevent him getting burnt during the 5 day trip on the Thames. Known for cycling John O'Groats to Landsend on a bike fit for a scrap heap, Rhys will call upon an Adele playlist once again to see him through the long arduous days bobbing up and down on the river.

Joe Ciotkowski
Nickname: Couch
Height: 6"3   Weight: 12 stone
Specialist Skills: Ramming/ funnelling
Previous Experience: Represented Britain in non aquatic boat racing

Joe 'Couch' Ciotkowski has been living in the shadow of his famous overachieving siblings for many a year now. He's hoping to steal a bit of the limelight and overcome the haters by taking on this kayaking challenge.

Joe Clarke
Nickname: Moof
Height: 5'10  Weight: 12 stone
Specialist Skills: Moofing
Previous Experience: Sat on many a ferry

Cows and dogs aren't renowned for their swimming prowess... until now. After a crippling case of shin splints during his last ridiculous Moof half marathon challenge, Joe's decided to stick to what he's best at... 135 miles of sitting on his arse, gorging on snacks. He's super organised, super keen, but will he have become a super heavy weight after 5 days of energy snacking.

Elise & Sophie Bromley

Nickname:  Saviour & Quitter
Height: 11ft  Weight: 15 stone
Specialist Skills: Replacing each other in the boats without anyone else knowing.
Previous Experience: 1 trip out on a kayak in Thailand
Quitter and Saviour are last minute additions to the challenge. They will be taking it in turns to kayak the Thames and will be using their past knowledge of challenges such as Coast to Coast, 3 Peaks and London to Paris to see them through the long days out on the river. The main obstacle these two individuals need to overcome is their ability to faff which can change a snack brake of a few minutes into a snacking, cleaning, chatting, changing clothes, toileting brake of up to an hour. However they bring a very organised approach, dedication to the cause and some feminine chat which we are going to be grateful for.
